What this role does

The Accounts Receivable is the order-to-cash operations individual contributor responsible for customer invoice generation and delivery, billing-data validation, cash application, partial and unapplied receipts, AR aging hygiene, deductions and short-pay research, customer statements, and controlled billing corrections. The role is accountable for this outcome: customers are billed accurately and on time, incoming cash is applied to the correct account and obligation, operational disputes are visible, and the receivables sub-ledger presents a clean and actionable record of what remains due. At Individual Contributor altitude, it owns operational customer invoice generation, validation, delivery, and billing-status evidence, cash application, partial receipt allocation, unapplied cash research, and remittance matching, AR aging hygiene, customer statements, deductions, short-pay research, and operational billing corrections, complete hand-offs to collections, revenue accounting, credit, tax, sales, and customer owners; advises on accounting and revenue owners on sub-ledger differences, billing cutoff evidence, and operational facts while they retain recognition and GL conclusions, collections, credit, sales, customer success, tax, and deal owners on invoice or receipt facts while they retain relationship, credit, tax, and commercial decisions; and escalates a material billing error, duplicate or unauthorized credit, suspicious remittance, cash-application anomaly, or customer-master issue, a dispute requiring commercial, tax, legal, credit, collection, or revenue-recognition judgment, a write-off, credit limit, revenue conclusion, customer concession, or refund outside delegated authority. The source material identifies Accounts Receivable Specialist as the functionally equivalent label. This package preserves the separate roster identity required by the owner and does not fabricate a difference in legal or operational authority. The seat is the operational record keeper for billed customer obligations and incoming cash. It must distinguish the invoice from revenue, cash from the correct application, an operational correction from a commercial concession, and an aging item from a collection strategy. Strong performance protects both customer trust and the integrity of the receivables sub-ledger.
