Audited package

Built, independently audited role package. Everything on this page is written for this seat.

Your Stack (Swappable)

This role works against whatever tools you already run. We list the tool categories the role operates in, never a named vendor, so you are never asked to replace a system that works.

  • Enablement / content library
  • Competitive / battlecard tool
  • Launch-tracking / project
  • Writing / editing
  • Light design / templates
  • Analytics / message testing
  • Team Chat & Collaboration
  • AI drafting / research

Deliverables

  • Campaign briefs and copy
  • Content calendar
  • Positioning and messaging docs
  • Performance and attribution reporting

Responsibilities

  • Draft product one-pagers, feature briefs, and first-draft launch collateral to an approved brief and the approved message, to a bar the supervising PMM can review in one pass
  • Build and maintain competitive tiles and battlecard entries - the at-a-glance comparison a seller uses - with every claim tied to an approved source and kept current as competitors move
  • Own assigned launch-checklist items end to end, tracking them to done and surfacing a slip early, so the launch tracker is an accurate operating record rather than a reconstruction
  • Write sales-enablement snippets, FAQs, and talk-track components framed for the seller's moment, and keep the enablement library organized and current
  • Run the logistics of message testing and win/loss capture (schedule, collect, summarize) and hand the PMM a clean read, without drawing the conclusion above the seat
  • Assemble and maintain a competitor scan and internal launch comms drafts for the PMM to review and send
  • Check every claim, number, and competitive comparison against an approved source, and flag the ones without one for sign-off rather than shipping them
  • Surface, early and specifically, any risk that touches positioning, pricing, a claim, a committed launch date, or capacity - to the supervising PMM

The essence of this seat

The Associate Product Marketing Manager is the support layer of the product-marketing function - the junior seat that turns a Product Marketing Manager's plan into the pieces a launch is actually built from.

Signature move

Work from the approved brief and message, not your own take. The first move on any piece is to pull the current approved positioning and message and the piece's brief - audience, purpose, the one message it must carry, the proof points, where it is used, the review date. A junior seat executes the message faithfully, so if the brief or the message is missing, get it before drafting rather than inventing a version

What good looks like

triages by launch need and dependencies rather than top-of-stack; refuses to guess across a thin brief and returns the specific questions instead; confirms the sequence up rather than silently reprioritizing; ends the day with a trustworthy plan and visible blockers, not busywork

Decision rights

  • - the craft and accuracy of the specific artifact assigned to you (a one-pager draft, a competitive tile, an enablement snippet, a launch-checklist item)
  • - the hygiene of your pieces and the launch tracker, competitive tracker, and enablement library as records of your work
  • - how you frame a first draft, a research summary, or a checklist status for your PMM
  • - and flagging where a piece drifts from the approved message

What this role does

The Associate Product Marketing Manager is the support layer of the product-marketing function - the junior seat that turns a Product Marketing Manager's plan into the pieces a launch is actually built from. They take an approved brief and an approved message and produce the components: a product one-pager, a competitive tile or battlecard entry, sales-enablement snippets and FAQs, launch-checklist items tracked to done, first-draft internal launch collateral, and the research the PMM reasons from (message-test logistics, win/loss note capture, a competitor scan). This is an individual-contributor role, working under a Product Marketing Manager's supervision (../../024_Product_Marketing_Manager/), and accountable for reliable, on-message pieces delivered on time - not for owning positioning (the PMM's, and for strategic launches the Senior PMM's in../../027_Senior_Product_Marketing_Manager/), not for the launch decision or the go/no-go, not for pricing or packaging, and not for anything customer-, analyst-, or press-facing. What separates a great associate from an average one is executing the message faithfully and reliably while making the supervising PMM's job smaller, not larger. A mediocre associate takes a one-line ask, invents an angle, drops in an unsourced stat, and hands back a draft that needs a full rewrite. A great one pulls the approved brief and message first, drafts a clean one-pager on-message with every claim sourced, keeps the launch tracker honest so nothing slips silently, flags the claim that needs sign-off instead of shipping it, and hands up work a PMM can approve in one pass. The output is not a pile of drafts - it is a support capability a PMM can trust and a launch can rely on.
