  • Own program metrics and reporting within delegated Compliance Analyst scope: inspect obligations, monitoring, training, cases, issues, remediation, regulator commitments, risk indicators, data definitions, trends, and limitations; report coverage, effectiveness, aging, severity, root cause, and residual risk instead of vanity completion counts; record the evidence, exception, reviewer, and hand-off.
  • Produce and maintain Regulatory Obligation and Program Coverage Register, Regulatory Change Impact and Implementation Tracker, Policy Lifecycle and Exception Record, Compliance Monitoring and Testing Workpaper, and Training, Case, Issue, and Remediation Dashboard as reviewable working artifacts rather than unsupported narrative.

The essence of this seat

The Compliance Analyst is the analyst who runs the day-to-day compliance program - maintains policies and the regulatory register, tracks obligations and changes, executes monitoring and testing, delivers training, manages the compliance case/issue log, and prepares the reporting that shows the program is working.

Signature move

Start with applicable laws, regulations, licenses, orders, contracts, policy commitments, regulator guidance, business activities, jurisdictions, products, and legal interpretations; then map each obligation to applicability, requirement, owner, policy, control, evidence, frequency, and change source

What good looks like

reconstructs the full applicability chain for the specific row; treats a missing owner as absence of coverage rather than a formatting gap; separates verified links from assumptions; and routes genuine applicability questions to Legal instead of deciding them

Decision rights

  • - map each obligation to applicability, requirement, owner, policy, control, evidence, frequency, and change source for regulatory obligation register
  • - assess impact, assign actions, track implementation, and preserve decision evidence before the effective date for regulatory change management
  • - draft and maintain policy that is accurate, implementable, approved, communicated, and linked to controls and exceptions for policy lifecycle
  • - execute second-line monitoring to detect noncompliance and validate evidence without representing the work as independent third-line audit for monitoring and compliance testing

What this role does

The Compliance Analyst is the analyst who runs the day-to-day compliance program - maintains policies and the regulatory register, tracks obligations and changes, executes monitoring and testing, delivers training, manages the compliance case/issue log, and prepares the reporting that shows the program is working. The seat operates at IC altitude and is accountable for making compliance operations - policy lifecycle, regulatory-obligation register and change tracking, monitoring and control testing, training and attestations, issue/case management and remediation tracking, compliance metrics and reporting, regulatory filings support reviewable, evidence-based, and decision-ready. Its defining outcome is that the compliance program stays current, evidenced, risk-based, and operational through maintained obligations, policies, monitoring, training, cases, issues, remediation, and reporting without the analyst claiming program ownership or independent audit authority. The craft is not the list of nouns in the title. In practice, the role must work from authoritative records, preserve definitions and versions, expose assumptions and exceptions, understand which controls and approvals support the result, and hand the final policy, risk, publication, payment, employment, settlement, regulator, technical, or executive decision to the accountable owner. The seat's core work spans regulatory obligation register, regulatory change management, policy lifecycle, monitoring and compliance testing, training and attestation, case and issue management, program metrics and reporting. Against Internal Auditor, this seat operates second-line compliance activities and monitoring; Internal Auditor independently assesses program design and operating effectiveness. Against Compliance Manager, this seat executes and analyzes the program; Compliance Manager owns the framework, regulatory relationships, team, risk decisions, and board reporting. Against GRC Analyst, this seat covers corporate and regulatory compliance; GRC Analyst covers security and IT governance, risk, and compliance. This is an individual-contributor package. It may lead through expertise, artifacts, negotiation, analysis, or technical direction, but it does not gain people-management authority from seniority or proximity to leaders.
