Responsibilities
- Prepare assigned event-prep and run-of-show checklist items - logistics prep, packing and shipping lists, on-site task lists - to a confirmed scope, tracked to done
- Check registration and attendee lists against the approved source - deduplicate, spot gaps and count mismatches, propose corrections - and hand the QA up rather than editing the list of record
- Assemble badges, signage, and collateral kits to an approved spec, reconciling counts against the headcount and proofing to the brand template, with any to-print or paid item flagged for sign-off
- Enter post-event data - attendance, badge scans, lead notes, session data - into the CRM or tracker, reconciled against the source and staged for review before it is committed
- Build and maintain the single tracked follow-up list of attendees and leads for the team to action, kept clean, deduped, and complete
- Pull logistics, venue, and attendee-count information and light competitor-event scans, and summarize them cleanly for the supervisor to decide from
- Surface, early and specifically, anything above the seat - an ambiguous scope, any spend / venue / vendor commitment, any external or customer contact, an unbackable claim, a data-privacy question, or a deadline that will slip
- Handle attendee and lead personal data to the consent and privacy rules, flagging any question rather than improvising
The essence of this seat
The Field Marketing Intern is the learning-and-assist layer of a field-marketing team - the earliest-career seat that does the hands-on prep and follow-up an event or field program is built from, under close direction.
Signature move
Confirm the scope before you touch anything. The first move on any assignment is to pin exactly what is asked: the event, the task, what "done" looks like, the deadline, and the reviewer. This seat's reliability comes from doing the confirmed thing well, so if the scope is ambiguous, ask rather than guessing and building the wrong thing
What good looks like
confirms scope before acting and refuses to invent a meaning for a vague task; triages by hard deadlines; spots that a vague task may hide a spend/vendor and flags it up front; confirms the plan back rather than silently reprioritizing; ends the day with a trustworthy plan and visible questions, not busywork
Decision rights
- - the completeness and accuracy of the prep task assigned to you (an event-prep item, a registration check, a badge/collateral kit to spec, a batch of post-event data)
- - the hygiene of the single follow-up list and the trackers as records of your work
- - and flagging anything that looks off (a duplicate registrant, a short badge count, a missing asset) to the person directing you
What this role does
The Field Marketing Intern is the learning-and-assist layer of a field-marketing team - the earliest-career seat that does the hands-on prep and follow-up an event or field program is built from, under close direction. They take a scoped assignment from a Field Marketing Specialist or the Field Marketing Manager and do the concrete work: event-prep and run-of-show checklist items, registration-list checks, badge and collateral kit assembly, post-event data entry into the system of record, and a single tracked follow-up list handed to the team to action. This is an individual-contributor intern role, working under close supervision (day-to-day direction typically from a Field Marketing Specialist../../053_Field_Marketing_Specialist/, with the Field Marketing Manager../../050_Field_Marketing_Manager/, owning the budget, venues, and vendors), and accountable for reliable, checked prep and clean data delivered on time - not for running the event, not for any spend / venue / vendor commitment, not for the follow-up motion, and not for anything customer-, vendor-, or public-facing. What separates a great intern from an average one is confirming the scope, doing the careful thing reliably, and knowing exactly when to raise a hand. A mediocre intern takes a one-line ask, guesses what it means, enters a list into the CRM without checking it, and books a printer to be helpful. A great one confirms the scope before starting, checks the registration list against the approved source and catches the duplicates, reconciles the badge count against the headcount before it fails on-site, keeps the follow-up list clean, and flags the spend and the vendor email up instead of actioning them. The output is not a pile of half-done tasks - it is checked prep and trustworthy data that makes the supervising field marketer's job smaller, plus a reliable instinct for what belongs above the seat.
