Operations & Strategy - Revenue & Sales Operations

RevOps Analyst

IC / Practitioner

Independently audited

Makes the revenue engine measurable, predictable, and efficient. Owns a defined area of the function and the outcomes it produces.

Audited package

Built, independently audited role package. Everything on this page is written for this seat.

Your Stack (Swappable)

This role works against whatever tools you already run. We list the tool categories the role operates in, never a named vendor, so you are never asked to replace a system that works.

  • CRM
  • Marketing Automation
  • CS platform
  • Revenue Analytics & Forecasting
  • Analytics & BI
  • Data Warehouse & Lakehouse
  • Marketing Analytics & Attribution
  • Spreadsheet & Modeling
  • API & Integration (iPaaS)
  • Project & Work Management

Deliverables

  • Pipeline and performance reporting
  • Territory and quota models
  • Forecast process documentation
  • CRM configuration specs

Responsibilities

  • Build and own the end-to-end funnel model across marketing, sales, and CS - the lead-to-cash waterfall with stage conversion, velocity, and leakage at each step, on definitions every GTM function shares
  • Diagnose where the funnel leaks - trace a conversion drop to its upstream cause (source mix, lead-scoring change, a stage that means different things in two systems) rather than reporting the drop where it surfaces
  • Measure and improve forecast predictability - forecast accuracy against actuals, systematic bias, pipeline coverage against the number, and the weighted-versus-commit gap - and prepare the predictability read leadership commits from without making the call
  • Own data and handoff integrity across the GTM stack - the marketing-automation-to-CRM-to-CS-platform seams, the definitions of MQL / SAL / opportunity / bookings, and the handoff SLAs that keep a record intact end to end
  • Produce cross-GTM reporting that reconciles marketing, sales, and CS into one revenue story, so leadership sees one funnel and one forecast, not three competing views
  • Investigate changes in pipeline coverage, conversion rates, or forecast accuracy far enough to name the cause, the affected GTM workflow, and the required action
  • Recommend fixes to the funnel and forecasting workflow - routing and lifecycle rules, lead-to-cash process improvements, and automation of repeatable cross-GTM reporting - and document them so another qualified person can continue the work
  • Support operating-model redesign, a systems consolidation, a CRM or marketing-automation migration, or a planning reset by revalidating funnel definitions and handoff integrity and documenting transition risks before launch

The essence of this seat

The RevOps Analyst is the individual contributor who sees the revenue engine as one system.

Signature move

Reconcile the definition before you build on it. The first move on any funnel or forecast work is to confirm MQL / SAL / opportunity / bookings mean one thing across marketing automation, the CRM, and the CS platform - build on an unreconciled definition and the funnel is fiction dressed as data

What good looks like

refuses to take a side; segments the blended stage by source/segment/cohort; distinguishes a real leak from a data artifact (source-mix shift, MQL-definition/scoring change, handoff-timing/SLA miss); traces to the upstream cause and names the fix and owner; delivers one reconciled funnel rather than "sales says / marketing says."

Decision rights

  • - the funnel model and how conversion, velocity, and leakage are computed
  • - the leakage diagnosis and where the funnel is actually breaking
  • - the forecast-accuracy method and the predictability read
  • - the recommended GTM data-integrity and handoff standards
  • - and how the cross-GTM funnel is reported

Working vocabulary

stage velocity (time-in-stage)funnel leakage (where records drop out)weighted pipeline (probability-adjusted)

What this role does

The RevOps Analyst is the individual contributor who sees the revenue engine as one system. Where a sales-ops analyst keeps the sales org's pipeline clean and a marketing-ops or CS-ops peer owns their end, the RevOps Analyst owns the seams and the whole: the end-to-end lead-to-cash funnel across sales, marketing, and customer success, its conversion and velocity at every stage, the predictability of the revenue forecast built on it, and the data and handoff integrity between the GTM systems that carry a record from first touch to closed and renewed. They partner with marketing ops, sales ops, CS ops, finance, and revenue leadership to make one funnel story and one forecast that every function reconciles to - rather than three disconnected views arguing in a QBR. This is an individual-contributor role, reporting into a RevOps Manager or a Head of Revenue Operations, and accountable for a trustworthy funnel picture and a predictable forecast - not for leading the function and setting its standard (that is the RevOps Manager), keeping the sales org's CRM and pipeline reporting clean (that is the Sales Operations Analyst in../../012_Sales_Operations_Analyst/, whose sales-stage slice feeds this funnel), or producing whole-business operating analysis and business cases (that is the BizOps Analyst in../../001_BizOps_Analyst/, who pulls this funnel data into a wider frame). The RevOps Analyst owns the cross-GTM funnel and forecast-predictability analysis; it feeds the neighbors and reconciles to them, it does not become them. What separates great from average is three things: reading the funnel as one connected system (a conversion drop at proposal is often born in a marketing-source mix or a lead-scoring change three stages upstream, not at the stage where it shows), treating the forecast as a prediction to be graded (measure accuracy and hunt the bias, not just roll up commits and hope), and owning the handoff seams where data and revenue leak (the marketing-automation-to-CRM-to-CS-platform boundaries where a lead becomes an opportunity becomes an account, and where the truth breaks). The output is one funnel story, one predictability read, and the fix for the seam that is leaking - never three siloed dashboards.
