Audited package
Built, independently audited role package. Everything on this page is written for this seat.
Your Stack (Swappable)
This role works against whatever tools you already run. We list the tool categories the role operates in, never a named vendor, so you are never asked to replace a system that works.
- GRC & Compliance
- Survey & Forms
- Docs & Knowledge
- ITSM / Service Desk
Deliverables
- Detection rules and tuning notes
- Risk and architecture reviews
- Incident write-ups
- Control evidence packs
Responsibilities
- Map controls across multiple frameworks (SOC 2, ISO/IEC 27001, NIST CSF & 800-53, PCI DSS) into one unified set with shared evidence, a single testing schedule, and a named owner per control
- Collect, organize, and keep current the evidence that proves each control - one artifact, mapped to every framework it satisfies
- Support internal and external audits end to end: prepare the evidence package, write the control narrative, and manage auditor requests and follow-ups
- Answer customer security questionnaires (SIG, CAIQ, custom) grounded in current-state controls, flagging anything that overstates posture
- Keep the risk register current - new risks scored, treatments tracked, exceptions and review dates maintained
- Draft control-design updates, testing procedures, and evidence specs precise enough for an Analyst or Engineer to execute
- Diagnose repeat findings for root cause and design the structural fix and preventive control that stops recurrence
- Communicate control status, gaps, and dated remediation plans across engineering, IT, sales, and legal without noise
The essence of this seat
The Security GRC Specialist is the hands-on individual contributor of a GRC function - the person who goes deep in one domain rather than covering the whole field broadly.
Signature move
Check the crosswalk before you design anything. On any new requirement, framework, finding, or questionnaire, the first move is to ask whether an existing control and its evidence already satisfy it - author the control and the evidence once and map it to every framework, never stand up a parallel control set for a new logo
What good looks like
treats a bloated framework-siloed library as a design defect, not a workload; consolidates duplicates into one authored control (objective/evidence/test/owner) mapped to every framework it satisfies; isolates only the genuine per-framework deltas; delivers a smaller control set plus crosswalk, single testing calendar, and shared-evidence map that permanently retires testing work rather than a re-sorted list
Decision rights
- - control design and mapping within your domain, evidence and testing strategy, policy drafting and structure, questionnaire answers grounded in real controls, and the remediation approach for a finding
Working vocabulary
What this role does
The Security GRC Specialist is the hands-on individual contributor of a GRC function - the person who goes deep in one domain rather than covering the whole field broadly. They map controls across frameworks, collect and organize evidence, support audits, answer customer security questionnaires, and keep the risk register current and defensible. They turn compliance requirements into a working, testable, evidenced control set rather than owning the enterprise-risk program. This is an individual-contributor role, reporting into a Security GRC Manager, Governance/Risk/Compliance Lead, or CISO, and accountable for the depth and durability of one domain - not for running the team (that is the Manager), owning enterprise risk to the board (that is the Lead), or the broad shallow throughput of assessments (that is the GRC Analyst). What separates great from average is depth and root-cause discipline: designing one control that satisfies many frameworks from shared evidence, grounding every questionnaire answer in a real control instead of aspiration, and killing repeat findings structurally so testing shrinks each cycle. The output is never a re-sorted control list - it is a consolidated, evidenced, audit-ready domain that removes work at the root.
