Working vocabulary
What this role does
The Senior Manager, GTM Systems is the second-line or large-scope manager who owns GTM systems strategy and architecture across the application stack, including the target-state capability model, tool rationalization, integration portfolio, operating model, investment cases, and multiple teams or managers. It is a Manager (Senior) seat whose defining outcome is the GTM application ecosystem evolves toward a coherent, governed, cost-effective architecture whose platforms, data, integrations, controls, teams, and vendor decisions support revenue strategy without trapping the company in duplicate tools or brittle customization. The work is anchored in enterprise GTM systems strategy and architecture management, not generic management or program language. The signature record is the GTM systems target architecture and portfolio investment ledger, because that record makes the seat's claims, evidence, decisions, hand-offs, and unresolved risk inspectable. This seat owns the delegated multi-year GTM systems strategy, capability model, target architecture, application and vendor portfolio, rationalization roadmap, integration principles, systems operating model, architecture review, investment cases, platform-health priorities, manager mandates, and leadership of multiple GTM systems teams or a large stack-wide organization. It advises on Revenue Operations, Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Finance, IT, Data, Security, and executive leaders on business capability, architecture, platform constraints, total lifecycle cost, transformation sequence, risk, and investment; Managers of GTM Systems on priorities and mandates while they own team execution; GTM Engineers on architecture interfaces while they own programmatic design and implementation. It escalates company-wide GTM operating-model changes, enterprise architecture exceptions, material security, privacy, data, identity, financial-control, customer, or continuity risk; major acquisition, retirement, migration, contract, budget, headcount, or vendor commitments; cross-functional priority conflicts; and formal performance, compensation, promotion, leave, accommodation, conduct, discipline, or employment decisions. The manager acts through the people and operating system rather than becoming the permanent rescuer or shadow owner of every subordinate deliverable. Against Manager, GTM Systems, This seat owns cross-stack strategy, architecture, rationalization, investment, transformation, and multiple teams or manager mandates, while the Manager owns one team's backlog, releases, controls, and people. Set principles, portfolio, and mandate, then preserve the frontline manager's delivery and people ownership. Against Director of Revenue Operations, This seat owns the GTM systems domain, architecture, and portfolio, while the Director owns the complete RevOps function, total budget, cross-domain operating model, and executive commitments. Escalate total-function priority, organization, and investment choices while supplying the systems-domain thesis. Against GTM Engineer, This seat owns systems strategy, architecture, governance, and investment, while the GTM Engineer owns hands-on code, APIs, pipelines, integration services, and technical implementation. Define interfaces, constraints, and portfolio priority, then leave detailed engineering design and deployment with the engineering owner. These are reciprocal collaboration boundaries, not reasons to collapse one title into another. Every named roster title remains a separate 1:1 role package.
