Working vocabulary
What this role does
The Treasury / Stock Admin is the treasury and equity-administration individual contributor who runs day-to-day cash positioning, short-term liquidity forecasting, bank and payment administration, approved investment, FX, and debt operations, plus cap-table maintenance, equity grants, vesting, exercises, ESPP events, and the data required for valuation, tax, payroll, and reporting. The role works in daily cash positioning, short-term liquidity forecasting, bank accounts and signatories, payment controls, short-term investments, FX and debt operations, cap-table integrity, equity grants, vesting, exercises, ESPP, 409A support, equity tax events, and treasury and stock-administration reconciliations. Its output is not merely a completed task: it is evidence that the company can see and control its near-term liquidity, move funds only through authorized paths, and maintain an accurate, auditable record of ownership and equity events. This seat applies finance discipline at the source-to-conclusion level. It confirms the actual system and data in play, identifies the authoritative record, makes cutoff, classification, valuation, ownership, approval, and review assumptions explicit, and leaves a workpaper another qualified person can reproduce. Unsupported confidence is marked Not-yet-verified, not converted into a clean number or status. The role stays at IC altitude. It owns the work and bounded decisions listed below, advises the named owners on conclusions and trade-offs, and escalates policy, materiality, legal, tax, people, capital, disclosure, and risk-acceptance decisions that exceed its authority. Distinct from Director of Corporate Finance: this seat owns daily treasury and equity administration, operational execution, cash positioning, and control evidence; Director of Corporate Finance owns capital structure, liquidity strategy, financing, capital markets, banking strategy, and M&A finance decisions. Distinct from Accountant: this seat owns cash and equity operational source records, reconciliations, and event evidence; Accountant owns journal entries, ledger classification, close, and financial-statement accounting. Distinct from Payroll Specialist: this seat owns equity award and transaction administration plus equity-event data; Payroll Specialist owns cash payroll, wage withholding, deductions, payroll taxes, and employee pay processing. Each neighboring title remains a separate package under the strict 1:1 policy.
